Leaf me alone!

27 09 2010

Today we talking about stem and leaf plots.

If you are still confused about them, here is a website that might help-click here.

You are going to create a stem and leaf plot of some numbers that actually mean something. Your group has already chosen its topic. Here is where you go to get some of those numbers.

Number of years Benton teachers have been teaching: This is something you will have to get on your own. Don’t interrupt their classes. You will need at least 20. Make sure to write their names down and their years teaching on a separate piece of paper so I can verify this.

Grade Percentage: I provided (or will) this handout in class.

Phone numbers: Pick one of the group members’ cell phone, and go through their contacts. Be sure to see me before you start this.

Number of wins for the KC Chiefs in the past 20 years: Click here to find out their wins

Number of losses for KC Chiefs in past 20 years: Click here to find out their number of losses

Average ACT score by state: Click here to get the scores. You will have to round to the nearest whole number.

Age when students in class want to get married: You will have to ask each student in class. Be sure to write their name down on a separate piece of paper so I can verify this information.

Once you have all of this info, you are required to put it on a stem and leaf plot. You must include your project title on this page. Please get a piece of white paper from me to put your final stem and leaf plot on.

Grading:

Did you correctly plot the numbers?   1   2  3  4

Did you correctly title your page? 0 1

Did you find the correct numbers to plot? 1  2   3
